Have you ever endured or are enduring a time of suffering in your life?

It could be something physical such as chronic pain or illness. Perhaps it is something more emotional, or psychologically tied to a particular event or trauma. It can even be spiritual in nature in spite of your best efforts to live out a life of faith.

Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world. (C.S. Lewis, The Problem With Pain).

Whatever the cause, a time of prolonged suffering is no fun. And because we are created as whole beings (mind, body, spirit), when a single part is affected, the rest is also affected. While we cannot control all aspects, we can take a more active role in our time of healing and restoring.

In this blog, I share encouragement and insights with you about what it looks like to be whole again. Not to sound trite, but it is possible to be whole even if the problems persist. But, we cannot do it alone and we are not meant to.

For the past 12 years, I have mentored countless groups of women in the church community and the prison system who are all searching or the same thing – to be made well. And I can tell you one thing for certain, it is possible.
